The South African Olympic Association is now in control of country’s cricket after removing the entire executive of Cricket South Africa.

The South African Sports Confederation and the Olympic Association in letters to the CSA demanded that the board and the senior executives who serve ex-officio on the board should all step aside from the administration with full pay, pending the outcome of a month long investigation into what the Olympic Association termed Mal-administration and Mal practice that have occurred since mid December last year.

The Sports confederation and the Olympic association govern the relationship between the state and sports federations and as such has the authority to put Cricket South Africa under administration.

However the move could fall foul of ICC rules on government interference and could lead to the national team being kicked out of international competitions.
