Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU, Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP, Stephanie Lindsey, says despite the number of viral videos circulating online of robberies in the Corporate Area, the police are yet to establish if there is a spike in that crime.
She says the police will be seeking to arm the public with the relevant safety information to fight back.
Meanwhile, SSP Lindsey says there’s need for active neighbourhood watch groups.

Meantime, SSP Lindsay says four guns and several rounds of ammunition were seized in the Norwood and Angie Lane communities of St. James this morning.
She says during the early morning operation, several houses and vehicles were searched and two persons were detained.

The identities of the men have not been released.
The St. James police reported that the weapons are believed to be linked to the G-City Gang operating in the community.
One week prior to this morning’s operation, the Police intercepted alleged members of the notorious Sparta Gang.
The police reportedly seized two Glock 34 pistols along with several rounds of ammunition.
The security forces have been pursuing members of the ‘Prekeh’ Gang since last month.
Two of its alleged members were fatally shot including the gang’s reputed leader.
