Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says personal income tax could be scrapped by 2028 once government revenue continues to improve.
Skerrit says consumption taxes would be less burdensome and more equitable.
He was speaking Tuesday night at a town hall meeting of his ruling Dominica Labour Party.
His comments follow the announcement by Finance Minister Dr. Irving McIntyre earlier in August, that the country’s current income tax regime of 15, 25 and 35 per cent, will be replaced with a single flat rate of 10 per cent as of January 1, 2027.
