Principal of Munro College, Dr. Mark Smith, is calling on corporate Jamaica to assist schools that are still rebuilding ahead of the new school year in September.
Dr. Smith was speaking during Nationwide’s Back to School Townhall on the E-Zone on Tuesday afternoon.
He says several primary schools are still keeping classes in tents nearly a year after the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
Six-hundred and eighty-six of the 1,010 public schools sustained damage during last October’s passage of Hurricane Melissa. Of that figure, 309 were severely damaged. Most of those schools are in western parishes.
Dr. Smith says he is confident of a smooth start to the new school year at Munro.
