Dr. Zahra Oliphant has been appointed acting chief executive officer of the National Fisheries Authority, NFA.
The appointment took effect on Monday.
Dr Oliphant will take over from Dr. Gavin Bellamy who led the authority for a five-year term.
Oliphant holds a bachelor of science in zoology and biochemistry, a master of philosophy in zoology and a doctor of philosophy in zoology from the University of the West Indies.
She says she will continue to build on the successes of her predecessor for the time she will be in the role.
