The Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, says the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, ECJ, will undertake a public education campaign designed to address increasing apathy among eligible voters.
The issue of voter apathy has again come up for discussion following the publication of the recent Don Anderson polls.
The poll, commissioned by the PNP, suggest strongly that an increasing number of Jamaicans are divorcing themselves from the political process.
Mr. Brown says the ECJ is ready to tackle the issue.
Mr. Brown was speaking at the end of a two day retreat of the ECJ.
The retreat heard a presentation from an international expert on the virtues of facilitating voting on elections, via the internet.
Mr. Brown says that presentation was instructive.
