Minister of Education, Karl Samuda, is urging schools not to increase auxiliary fees for the new school year.

Minister Samuda says some of the fees being charged by some school administrators are untenable.

The Education Minister was addressing the House of Representatives this afternoon.

Mr. Samuda is reminding schools of the non-mandatory nature of auxiliary fees which remains in effect.

He says schools should be properly funded by government with voluntary contributions from stakeholders.

The Education Minister is also placing a cap and restrictions on what can be included in school registration packages.
