Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams, is urging school vendors to support the National School Nutrition Policy by changing the food options they sell to students once the policy is implemented.

The Minister was speaking at a virtual consultation with vendors on Tuesday.

She was responding to concerns by some school vendors on aspects of the new policy.

Minister Williams conceded that the starting phase of implementing the policy in schools will be difficult.

However, she noted that through several campaigns, more children are now drinking water instead of sugary drinks.

Minister Williams added that Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, has been in talks with manufacturers on producing healthier options for the vendors to purchase.
