Education Minister, Fayval Williams, says the Ministry is targeting January 2022 to begin implementing its Character Education programme in schools across the island.
Minister Williams was speaking during her Back-to-School address on the weekend.
The Character Education initiative will focus on character development among students.
The Ministry will incorporate various service groups such as Cadets and Red Cross to support the new curriculum.
She added that a good parenting campaign will also be implemented to reduce the high numbers of abuse recorded in children’s agencies.
Minister Williams further said for this school year beginning today, additional modalities are included to ensure full learning opportunities for students.

In the meantime, Minister Williams says two additional years will be given to grade eleven students who wish to have alternative options apart from the CAPE curriculum.
She also says an assessment will be done annually in all early childhood institutions to enable practitioners to make necessary interventions in preparing students for the next level.
The use of specialist subject teachers is one of the Ministry’s flagship initiatives in increasing educational knowledge among primary school students.
