Environment Minister, Senator Matthew Samuda is expressing concern about the health of the ocean citing that it’s a major economic earner for countries like Jamaica that are vulnerable to climate change.

Minister Samuda was addressing a high level United Nations World Ocean summit.

He further explained that the impact of climate change on the health of the ocean has affected Jamaica’s shores with significant beach erosion.

The Minister without portfolio in Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s Economic Growth and Job Creation Ministry underscored the importance of pursuing a significant reduction in greenhouse gases as agreed in the Paris Agreement.
