Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke has confirmed the existence of an account at Stocks and Securities Limited, SSL, belonging to sprint legend Usain Bolt.
The confirmation follows questions Monday afternoon over whether Bolt’s money was invested at the embattled investment firm.
A former Chief Executive Officer of SSL, Zachary Harding, told Nationwide Monday morning that in his almost three years as head of the investment firm, he had never once heard or been told that the Olympic icon had an account at the entity.
According to Bolt’s legal team, the Olympian he lost nearly 13 million US dollars or close to 2 billion Jamaican dollars.
But Harding says no account belonging to Bolt was brought to his attention bearing the amount of funds now being reported.

But in a statement before noon Tuesday, Dr. Clarke disclosed that the Temporary Manager of SSL, who was appointed by the Financial Services Commission, has confirmed to him the existence of an account at the entity.
Dr. Clarke says the account in the name of a limited liability company is owned by Usain Bolt.
The Finance Minister further disclosed that the Temporary Manager has further confirmed to him that this account dates back to 2012.
