Minister of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke has touted the achievements of the Inter-American Development Bank over the past year as he closed out his chairmanship of the Multi-lateral.

Dr. Clarke noted the region has been ravaged by recent global shocks such as COVID-19 and the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

The Finance Minister says the challenges of high inflation and increased debt have competed with governmental requirements to meet the ever-increasing needs of citizens.

Dr. Clarke says the IDB has risen to that challenge in its assistance to the region.

Dr. Clarke was speaking at the IDB’s annual conference in Panama City over the weekend.

He has been succeeded by Panama’s Finance Minister, Hector Alexander, as the institution’s new chairman.

In closing out his tenure Dr. Clarke says he’s assured the IDB will continue its sterling work in supporting human development in the region.
