The Amendments to the Dangerous Drugs Act which were gazetted on Monday, come into effect today.

Under the amendments, persons found with more than 2-ounces of Ganja will be ticketed and fined 5-hundred dollars.

Persons can now grow up to five ganja plants per household.

But Chairman of the Ganja Future Growers and Producers Association, Orville Silvera says Jamaicans are still confused on what the amended ganja law allows.

He says the organization will now be focusing on public awareness campaigns to sensitize persons on the implications of the new law.
