Member of Parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal, Phillip Paulwell says the government has postponed plans to displace several squatters from Port Royal by January 4, 2020.
The MP says the planned move was part of the government’s push to prepare the area for a cruise shipping development.
He says the reversal comes following a meeting with government stakeholders, himself and his Councillor for the Springfield Division, Lorraine Dobson.
Mr Paulwell says talks are expected to continue in January 2020.
The MP says he expects the discussion to take into consideration the needs of the squatters.
