The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says it has made arrangements to shelter senior citizens that were recently evicted from a nursing home in St. Catherine.

Occupants of the Pleasant Care Nursing Home were sent scrambling for a new place to stay after the owner home visited the premises brandishing a court ordered eviction notice.

About 20 senior citizens were ordered to vacate the building as bailiffs removed furniture from the home.

In a media release this morning, the Ministry says five of the senior citizens were yet to be collected by relatives.

The Ministry says the Poor Relief Department and the Local Government Ministry had made arrangements to shelter them in a government run facility.

But the operator of the ‘Pleasant Care Nursing Home’ declined the offer, insisting that alternative arrangements to shelter the seniors in her care had already been made.
