President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, JAS, Senator Norman Grant says the time has come for provisions to be made to establish insurance polices for farmers.

As bush fires rage in East Rural St. Andrew coffee farmers are estimated to have lost over 2-hundred million dollars worth of crops.

The fire has come at a time when the price of coffee on the world market is high.

The farmers say they will take some time to recover from the setback as the coffee destroyed was just about to be reaped for export.

Lisa Williams reports.
