Guyana’s gold mining sub-sector expanded by an estimated 11.3 percent in the first half of 2026.
That’s according to the 2026 mid-year report by the Ministry of Finance.
The record-high global prices pushed gold export earnings up by US $500 million over the same period.
According to the Ministry, the earnings now stand at US $826 million.
Total gold declarations reached over 232,000 troy ounces in the first half of the year.
The Ministry says gold accounted for 5.1 percent of total exports in the first half and continues to lead non-oil exports.
