The Trump administration is stripping millions of dollars in U.S. military assistance from countries in Europe and the Middle East to support conservative-leaning governments in Central and South America.
On Tuesday, the State Department notified Congress that it will re-program $52 million in foreign military financing from Slovakia, North Macedonia, Tunisia and Iraq.
The funds will go to Panama, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.
It follows a visit by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru last week.
The State Department says the funds would be used to combat narco-terrorism and help continue to secure the Panama Canal.
