Acting Medical Officer of Health for Hanover, Dr. Marcia Johnson Campbell, says discussions surrounding the vaccinated versus unvaccinated are fueling a division that cannot be afforded at this time.
Dr. Johnson Campbell, who was addressing the monthly general meeting of the Hanover Municipal Corporation on Thursday, said such a discussion is creating a war.
Dr. Johnson Campbell was responding to a suggestion from Councillor for the Lucea Division, Easton Edwards, on the legality of barring people from entering the Corporation if they’re not able to show their vaccination status.

However, Mayor of Lucea, Sheridan Samuels, noted that while the Councillor is partly correct, it doesn’t sound good coming from someone elected to serve the people.
But, Dr. Johnson Campbell says that as far as she’s aware the Ministry of Health is not mandating vaccination.
The medical officer asserted that a vaccinated person is still able to transmit the virus to others.
She pointed out that the primary benefit of the vaccine is to lessen the chances of an infected person being hospitalized or dying.
