Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says public health care workers have been receiving verbal abuse and threats from members of the anti-vaccination movement. He’s calling for these attacks to cease.
Minister Tufton was speaking in the House of Representatives yesterday. He says the attacks will not be allowed to detract from the efforts of hardworking health officials.
Dr. Tufton says he himself has been receiving hate mail for being a proponent of COVID-19 vaccination.
The Health Minister also says people have been using the deaths of persons to further promote anti-vaccination sentiments.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tufton expressed condolences for late journalist Michael Sharpe. He described the veteran journalist as a fearless pursuer of truth.

Mr. Sharpe, one of the country’s leading media practitioners, passed away earlier this week after testing positive for COVID19. He served as a journalist for approximately 4-decades. At the time of his passing he was the news operations manager at the Jamaica News Network, JNN.
