The Ministry of Health and Wellness has missed its target for this weekend’s vaccination blitz which was primarily focused on children.
The Ministry had targeted approximately 25,000 Jamaicans to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine over the weekend.
But Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry, Dunstan Bryan, says just about 20,000 Jamaicans had been inoculated up to yesterday afternoon.
The Education Ministry will require all students attending face-to-face classes in the new school term to be vaccinated.
The vaccination blitz continues today.
Mr. Bryan says persons may visit sites closest to them today and tomorrow.
The Permanent Secretary says appointments are no longer required on the lockdown days.
