Acting Director of the National Laboratory Services, Dr Michelle Hamilton is assuring Jamaicans they can rely on accurate results from the testing kits for COVID-19.
There’ve been concerns over the reliability and accuracy of the tests.
It comes after some false negatives appeared in tests carried out in the United States.
The scare emerged over inconclusive results from a limited number of faulty test kits issued by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Hamilton says the kits that are being used locally are also not from the CDC but from the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director says there’re enough kits locally at this time to test for COVID-19.
