The HEART/NSTA Vocation Development Unit, the VTDI, is set to benefit from a $100,000 USD donation from tech giant Huawei.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties, Huawei will be providing over one hundred thousand US dollars worth of equipment and training to the VTDI, with the aim of developing ICT talent and contributing to the country’s digital transformation.
The VTDI is the second academic institution in Jamaica to partner with the tech company as a part of the establishment of the Huawei ICT Academy.
Under the MOU, Huawei will facilitate the training of HEART students to provide them with more practical experience and generate more employment opportunities.
Minister without Portfolio in The Office of the Prime Minister, Floyd Green, says the government views the partnership as a tremendous opportunity for the nation to leverage technology and ensure that our people are at the forefront of digital change.
