Communication and Customer Services Manager at the National Works Agency, NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the agency is aware of the damage caused by heavy rainfall in sections of St. Thomas yesterday.
A St. Thomas Resident, who identified herself as Ms. Brown, told our news centre this morning that residents from three areas of the parish aren’t able to leave their communities because the roads are inundated.
Ms. Brown is urging the NWA to rebuild a temporary road along a river bed in the parish once the water subsides.
Mr. Shaw says heavy rain will delay the NWA’s response in the area.
Mr. Shaw pointed out that the NWA can only monitor the situation at the moment.
As a result, he’s asking residents to be more understanding.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shaw says the NWA will not endanger its employees.
