Opposition Leader Andrew Holness today reiterated that the Opposition will not support the proposed prison transfer deal.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Holness says the previous JLP administration rejected the proposal on a point of principle.

Mr. Holness says the Opposition will not take further part in any discussions about the proposal until Minister Bunting provides more details.

Opposition Leader Andrew Holness says there’s no way the JLP administration could accept the deal currently on the table to facilitate the transfer of prisoners from the UK to Jamaica.

Mr. Holness says there’s reason to be skeptical, given that Minister Bunting and the British government differ on whether a deal has been agreed.

Mr. Holness says the Simpson Miller administration appears ignorant of the social issues surrounding the prison transfer deal.
