Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, says the $13.8-billion tax package he announced yesterday will increase inflation by only 0.2-percent.

At a post-Budget Debate media briefing at the Finance Ministry today, Mr. Shaw addressed concerns of the Opposition that the potential inflationary effect of the tax package will make life difficult for Jamaicans.

Minister Shaw is also pushing back against suggestions from the PNP, that the 7-dollar fuel tax will lead to an increase in electricity bills.

The Finance Minister was however cautious, in saying whether the Government would go ahead and allow motorists to increase the cost of public transportation.
