National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says the government will be amending the Interception of Communications Act to boost the capacity of the security forces to monitor criminal suspects.

Dr. Chang says a bill will shortly be brought to Parliament to amend the Act.

The National Security Minister says amendments are also coming to the anti-gang law which is being reviewed by a joint select committee of parliament.

He says the committee is about to complete its work.

Dr. Chang says a supplementary bill will also be brought before parliament tomorrow to fully operationalize MOCA as a law enforcement agency which is independent of the Constabulary.

Dr. Chang says the coming legislative amendments are part of the administration’s long-term strategy to deal with crime.
