The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, JCDC, has extended the application deadline for the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition to Saturday , April 30, 2022.

This extension will facilitate last minute entrants who are hopeful to be a part of Jamaica’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Interested people are encouraged to apply online at the JCDC’s website www.jcdc.gov.jm.

According to JCDC Interim Executive Director, Ms. Lillian Reid, the entry deadline extension was prompted by an influx of interest from the public regarding joining the Jamaica 60 Independence Celebrations following a “last call” for entries made earlier this week.

The Jamaica Festival Queen Competition has been a staple in the Independence roster for over five decades. The competition was unfortunately cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pageant criteria outlines that they are seeking “empowered young women between the ages of 18 and 25, who are intelligent, culturally-aware, poised and are looking for a platform to make their contributions to nation building, while representing their parish as the next Miss Jamaica Festival Queen.”

Meanwhile, the application portal for the Jamaica Gospel Star Competition closed on Friday, April 22.

The weekly televised elimination show will see contestants trying to out-sing each other with their favourite Gospel cover songs. The Gospel Star competition is a rebrand of the Jamaica Gospel Song competition.
