The Jamaica Football Federation, JFF, has condemned the killing of 18-year-old school boy footballer, Omar Laing.
Laing was killed during a drive-by at the corner of Charles Street and Orange Street shortly before 5:30 on Friday afternoon. Laing was reportedly celebrating his birthday.
In a statement on Saturday the JFF said it’s saddened by what they’re describing as the tragic and untimely death of the St Andrew Technical High School player.
JFF president Michael Ricketts says every life lost in such condition is sickening. He says the killing is especially heartbreaking when it is someone so young and promising.
Mr Ricketts expressed condolences to Laing’s family, friends, school and club. The JFF president says the federation hopes that the authorities will be able to quickly bring the criminals to justice.
