Education Minister, Fayval Williams, says the Ministry intends to make information within the Jamaica Education and Transformation Task Force report more accessible to the public.

The report was launched yesterday by the Jamaica Education and Transformation Commission, JETC, led by Professor Orlando Patterson.

Minister Williams says the Oversight Committee recommended by the report, is also in the works.

The Commission notes that in order to fairly assess schools, the society must consider the inputs students bring to the institutions.

The report also takes into account the socio-economic background of students, the region the students live and the amount of tutoring received outside of school.

One of the recommendations is to utilize the Value Added method to rank Jamaica’s high schools.

Minister Williams says this is to assist schools in ultimately improving their performance.

She says the report will also help the Ministry in allocating their funds to disadvantaged schools.
