President of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association, Leonard Green, is accusing the multinational oil marketing company RUBIS Energy of trying to force local dealers out of business.

The accusation follows what Mr. Green says is a new policy approach by RUBIS, to issue one year franchise licenses to dealers in its network of service stations.

Mr. Green says the contracts are not bankable.

Mr. Green says the tenure of the contracts could cause many dealers to run into default.

He’s charging that RUBIS is exploiting Jamaicans due to the non-existence of Fair Contract Law as well as a weak legislative framework.

Efforts by our news centre to reach Raymond Samuels, the head of retail at RUBIS, were unsuccessful.
