JLP General Secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, says the party leadership is considering whether to call a by-election in South East Clarendon soon.

He was pressed on whether a by-election will be called in South East Clarendon soon.

Dr. Chang says it may not be advisable to leave the constituency of South East Clarendon without leadership at the MP level for too long.

The JLP General Secretary says in making the decision about whether to call a by-election in South East Clarendon soon, the party leadership will also take into consideration that a General Election could be called this year.

Our news centre disclosed On Monday that former South East Clarendon MP, Rudyard Spencer would have resigned this week to take up a diplomatic appointment overseas.

Meantime .. in the neighboring constituency of North Central Clarendon where Pearnel Charles Senior will not be seeking re-election, Dr. Chang says Senator Robert Morgan is the only applicant for the seat at this time.

In the meantime, Dr. Chang believes the JLP could put up a good challenge in Central Kingston which is traditionally regarded as a strong PNP seat.

Imani Duncan Pryce is the PNP’s candidate in that constituency.

Dr. Chang says the JLP has confirmed a candidate for Northern Trelawny which is currently represented in the House of Representatives by the PNP’s Victor Wright.
