President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, JTA, Leighton Johnson, says he’s in support of school administrators who bar students from classes for sporting schoolbags with the word ‘dunce’ written on them.

This, despite a warning from the Education Ministry that such a course of action would represent a denial of the right of access to education.

Speaking during a virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of Kingston on Thursday, Mr Johnson says the ‘dunce’ culture must not be tolerated in any form.

Mr Johnson says the formal education system is under threat.
