The restorative justice system has seen an 86 per cent success rate in matters that were referred by the Courts for the first eight months of this year.
The was revealed by Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck was during the Ministry’s quarterly press briefing on Tuesday morning.
Minister Chuck says many parties have healed, gone back to courts and have suffered no criminal record.
The Justice Minister says they’ll be broadening the programme of restorative justice system by establishing three more centres by the end of this year.
He’s appealing for more matters to be referred to the restorative justice centres.
Meanwhile, Minister Chuck says the Ministry plans to use the legal aid method to pay for mediators for Jamaicans who can’t afford the fees.
