President of the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE, Vincent Morrison, is set to meet with representatives from the Ministry of Labour this morning to discuss wage and fringe benefits for workers employed by UC Rusal Alumina Jamaica Limited.

Last week over 600 production workers voted to take industrial action following a breakdown in negotiations between the management at UC Rusal and the union.

A statement from UCASE said UC Rusal has refused to address the claim for basic benefits such as notice and redundancy payment, payment for public holidays, payment for overtime work, no pension arrangement and no medical coverage for certain categories of employees.

Mr. Morrison says the company has not been negotiating in good faith.

According to him, the last three wage and fringe benefits negotiation were settled by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal.

Mr. Morrison says a strike notice issued on the company will remain in place until 6am Thursday .
