The Island Traffic Authority has a new Director-General.
Lieutenant Colonel Sheldon Bryan took up duty as Director-General of Road Traffic on Monday.
The Authority says he brings more than 20 years of Jamaica Defence Force service, with experience in strategic leadership, governance, organisational reform, risk management, cybersecurity and project delivery.
He has set out a transformation agenda, digitising key services, cutting the delays the public meets in dealing with the Authority, and building what he describes as a culture of professionalism, responsiveness and accountability across all ITA locations.
Colonel Bryan’s appointment was announced in July by Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz.
He said Lieutenant Colonel Bryan brings the leadership skills, operational discipline and technological competence required to lead the Authority through its next phase.
However, nowhere in the statement from the ITA is his predecessor, Colonel Daniel Pryce, named.
Colonel Pryce resigned as Director-General effective June 30.
The Authority’s statement carries no acknowledgement of his tenure, no word of thanks, and no reference at all to the vacancy his exit created.
Neither the Authority nor the Transport Ministry has ever explained why the Colonel left, and neither has publicly acknowledged his service since.
