Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Daryl Vaz, says major works on the Southern Coastal Highway is to start in another 3 months.

Local contractors started rehabilitation works on the adjoining sections of the roadway last October.

Minister Vaz says the government’s mindful that scores of persons residing on lands to be utilized for the new highway will be displaced by the development.

He says they’ve been in dialogue with the stakeholders and will not be ruling out compensating them for the displacement.

North West Manchester MP, Mickael Phillips, raised concerns during yesterday’s sitting of Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee.
