President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, JHTA, Clifton Reader, says that more workers in the tourism industry are indicating a willingness to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Mr. Reader says many workers who had rejected the vaccine or were undecided subsequently have had a change of heart after several thousand workers in the sector received their jab during the last vaccination blitz.

The JHTA President said the Tourism Ministry has indicated that as more vaccines become available, it will be advocating for tourism workers to be put on the priority list to be vaccinated.

The aim he says is to achieve herd immunity as seen in most of the destinations travellers tend to visit.

Clifton Reader, JHTA President.

The industry has to date had no known reports of COVID-19 transmission between staff and guests in the resilient corridors established through the Tourism Product Development Company Limited, TDPCo.
