Reggae Boyz coach, Heimir Hallgrimsson, will have his first real test in charge of the Jamaica national senior men’s team when he leads them into an international friendly against Argentina tonight in New Jersey.

Manager of the team, Roy Simpson is confident that the team will put on a good show.

According to Simpson, the players are excited about the prospect of matching skills with Lionel Messi and company.

Having identified the strengths and weakness of Argentina, Simpson says it now comes down to execution during the game.

Jamaica has lost all three previous meetings to Argentina, the latest coming in 2015 when they were beaten 1-0 by the two-time world champions.

The game will be played at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey and kicks off at 7:00 pm Jamaica time.

Meanwhile former national youth coach, Andrew Edwards, is stressing that the team’s performance is more important than the result of the game.

According to Edwards, the focus should be on developing the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Based on the history between both teams, Edwards said he wouldn’t be surprised at a negative result for the Jamaicans.

However, he is also confident that the Reggae Boyz can surprise the two-time World Cup winners.
