Member of Parliament for South Central St. Catherine, Dr. Andrew Wheatley is joining the call of his colleagues for more resources to be allotted to them.

Dr. Wheatley joins the call of MP for Manchester Central Rhoda Moy Crawford and Manchester North West MP, Mikael Phillips who’ve in recent days appealed for an increase in their Constituency Development Fund, CDF.

The South Central St. Catherine MP made the call on Nationwide This Morning as he lamented the strain to carry out drain cleaning in his constituency.

Dr. Wheatley explained that the allocation now is lower than what it was several years ago when the CDF was established.

St. Catherine was one of the two most affected parishes by the outer bands of Hurricane Ian.

Dr. Wheatley says there’s been damage to St. Johns road, Old Harbour road and sections of Hill Run.

He argued that since the development of the East-West highway, there’s been more flooding in these areas.

Meanwhile, Dr. Wheatley says the authorities must be proactive instead of waiting on a weather alert to clean drains.
