Chairman of the National Health Fund, NHF, Howard Mitchell, is calling for the implementation of a different national approach in the country’s vaccination programme to tackle the low levels of vaccine uptake among citizens.

Mr. Mitchell recently said that the process of delivering vaccine doses to the citizens must be made convenient and as easy as possible.

He says the process vaccinating Jamaicans needs to be hastened.

Mr. Mitchell further says the private sector must play a greater role in the inoculation of citizens.

He noted that efforts to achieve herd immunity against Covid-19 should not only be reliant on the Government.

Mr. Mitchell also noted that more dialogue is needed before the enactment of mandatory vaccinations.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mitchell estimates that the country has more than 300 thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccines available.

He says the amount is sufficient to inoculate a significant amount of people.
