Officer in charge of Operations for the Westmoreland Police Division, DSP Adrian Hamilton, has disclosed that since the start of the year, over 100 children have reportedly been involved in criminal activities in the parish.

DSP Hamilton says the inclusion of minors in serious crimes continues to be a worrying trend in the society.

Since the start of the year, the police have also seen a significant increase in the recovery of firearms and ammunition.

In their latest seizure, the Westmoreland Police seized four firearms and arrested six people, five of whom have been charged in three separate incidents across the parish.

The police say the arrests are attributed to increased operational activities with emphasis on stop and search especially in crime hotspots across the parish.

DSP Hamilton says the police will continue to use resources are available to them to arrest perpetrators of criminal activities across the parish until normalcy is returned.
