The Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management, ODPEM, has completed the migration of government-controlled data associated with the Support Jamaica platform to a secure government environment.

ODPEM provided the update in a statement on Tuesday.

It says the move fulfils the commitment to regularise the hosting arrangements for the platform and ensure that information entrusted to the website is maintained within the appropriate environment.

The data was previously housed at a temporary hosting environment provided by Amber Innovations Limited.

ODPEM says it has no evidence that the data was compromised at any time.

It says access to the information remains restricted to authorised personnel and approved purposes, with appropriate security and audit controls in place.

ODPEM adds that it remains the Data Controller for information collected through the platform and is responsible for determining how that information is used and processed.

The Support Jamaica platform was launched to mobilize support, channel relief and coordinate recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
