More than five million attempts to breach Jamaica’s digital systems were recorded in the first three months of 2026.

Science and Technology Minister, Dr Andrew Wheatley, revealed the scale of the threat at Wednesday’s post-Cabinet Media Briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister.

October is recognised as Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

According to Dr Wheatley, Artificial Intelligence is now being weaponised by attackers.

He says despite the country’s strides in cybersecurity, Jamaicans must play their part in protecting themselves online.
