The Office of Utilities Regulations, OUR, says it has granted the Jamaica Public Service company, JPS, an almost 3-percent average increase in electricity rates.

The OUR announced this afternoon that it has approved the Tariff Adjustment application for the light and power company.

The adjustments take effect today.

In a statement the OUR says the increase will apply to all JPS customers.

Small, residential and commercial customers will see an increase of 2.4-percent.

Medium, commercial industrial customers will see a 2.9-percent increase while large commercial or industrial customers will see a 3.2-percent increase.
