The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has called on the government to reduce the size of the increase in salaries announced for politicians.
It’s one of two recommendations offered by the party in response to the public backlash against the increases.
The PNP made the call through its Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, at a media conference a short while ago.
The proposed downward revision in the salaries of the Cabinet Ministers would result in all other salaries announced on Tuesday being reduced.
The increases announced earlier this week have been described as disproportionate and vulgar.
Mr. Robinson had originally offered no objection to the increases. However, he says upon reflection, they are too high.
