The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, is expressing concerns about the lifting of the UK travel restrictions.
The Tourism Ministry says a successful vaccination programme in the United Kingdom and significant improvement in COVID-19 numbers in that country have contributed to the Government’s decision not to extend the travel ban in relation to the UK.
The travel ban expires, tomorrow, May 1.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett disclosed this week that the Government will not be extending the ban.
Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr. Morais Guy, says Jamaica has been put on alert for a potential third wave of Covid 19 infections.
And he says that could have a devastating impact on the health sector.
Dr. Guy says while many UK travellers would have have received their vaccines, only a few Jamaicans have in comparison.
