The Opposition, People’s National Party, PNP, has come out in defence of its standard bearer for the East Portland seat in the upcoming by-election, Damion Crawford.
Mr. Crawford has been widely criticized for comments he made during a PNP mass meeting in East Portland on Sunday. His comments have been labelled as classist and racist by members of the Jamaica Labour Party and other members of society on traditional and social media.
But General Secretary of the PNP, Julian Robinson, blames the media for sensationalizing a small part of Mr. Crawford’s speech. Mr. Robinson says Mr. Crawford and the PNP are focused on improving the lives of the residents of East Portland.
Mr. Robinson admits that there’s mixed reaction to Mr. Crawford’s comments.
