Nationwide News understands that police are currently conducting a raid at the headquarters of the troubled telecommunications company Caricel.

This was confirmed by Company Secretary for Symbiote Investments, the operators of the Caricel License, Minette Lawrence.

Mrs. Lawrence confirmed with Nationwide News that police are on the premises located on Eastwood Avenue in Half Way Tree and have detained the staff.

However, she says she’s uncertain as to the reason for their presence.

The telecoms provider’s licenses were revoked by the government in 2018 due to adverse security traces of one of its principals.

Caricel challenged the decision but lost in both in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

Caricel was in the process of seeking judicial review by the Privy Council.

However, shortly after the Court of Appeal decision the Office of Utilities Regulation, OUR, moved to to ensure Caricel ceased all operations.

A man on the scene complained bitterly about the treatment of the company by the police.

That’s a customer of Caricel at their Headquarters on Eastwood Avenue this afternoon.
