Members of the Private Sector are welcoming the decision by Prime Minister Andrew Holness to further lessen Covid-19 restrictions.

President of the MSME Alliance, Donovan Wignal, says Mr. Holness is signalling the proper direction the country should be heading to get past the pandemic.

The new measures will see Jamaicans now being required to be home by 9:00 pm and able to return to normal activities at 5:00 am.

They’ll run until December 10.

Mr. Wignal says while this is a welcome move it must be paired with preferential treatment for those vaccinated.

He says the additional hour will be useful for his members who’ve been particularly hard hit by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, PSOJ, Imega Breese McNab, says it’s now incumbent on the population to take the necessary steps to get vaccinated.
